PRESS RELEASE: Yes Mrs Robinson

Written: Friday 15th January, 2010

OH BOY

Four out of ten woman wish they were dating a younger man, a study found yesterday (Thurs).

Research revealed 40 per cent of mature ladies would like to experiment with a toyboy, like Iris Robinson, wife of Northern Ireland's First Minister Peter Robinson.

Robinson was forced to temporarily step down from his post after it emerged his wife enjoyed an affair with a 19-year-old boy and gave him #50,000 to set up a business.

The study also found one in four women are currently dating or married to a man who is younger than they are.

The report was carried out by older woman younger man dating site www.YesMrsRobinson.com, which has no link to Iris Robinson.

Yesterday a spokesman for the site put the trend down to a combination of today's 40-something women looking and feeling younger than ever and modern young men appreciating the confidence and experience an older partner can offer.

And he added: ''We've found over six million women who aren't currently with a younger man would like one and half admit believe having a younger fella would knock six years off the age they felt.

''Perhaps single women should start re-thinking the age difference of their prospective dates.

''Cougar dating, as it's often called, is so popular now in the US that a TV show named 'Cougar Town' starring Courtney Cox in which she plays a divorcee who starts dating younger men has recently been launched.''

The survey of 2,000 women over the age of 40 found a quarter polled have a younger man, but four in 10 who didn't, wish they did.

It also emerged 13 years was the cut-off point for an age difference with more being deemed 'wrong.'

A cheeky 17 per cent would even have an affair with a younger fella if they knew their partner would never find out and another 14 per cent often fantasise about being with a bloke half their age.

Amazingly, one in five even admitted finding one of their son's friends 'cute'.

More than half (53 per cent) reckon having a man a few years their minor would help them feel young - knocking at least six years off how they currently feel.

But when it comes to the sort of relationship women would want, a third would be up for a frolic and a bit of fun while three in ten would like something more serious.

A quarter would just like the company and 15 per cent would like 'no strings sex'.

But toyboys do have their downside.

Over a third (37 per cent) said they would be embarrassed to introduce a man much younger than themselves to friends and work colleagues.

Seven out of ten said they wouldn't trust their toy boy to not run off with a girl closer his age.

The women's favourite celebrity toy boy was Gino D'Acampo.

The handsome Italian chef who was crowned King of the Jungle in last year's 'I'm a Celeb...' beat a string of famous men to claim the title.

In second place in the top 20 Toy Boy list was Long Way Round and Star Wars actor Ewan McGregor.

Spanish singing sensation Enrique Iglesias's olive skin and boyish good looks helped him into third place.
